[TRAILER] Ideas and samples
I was thinking we can do something like this...XDXDXD
I got the background music for this funny "trailer" anyway...so we can do somewhat the same style...
I think it's funny and can grab their attention!!!
::edit::
Shall explain in detail....we can do it exactly the same style...but the front part instead of that word we use maybe like “道” or dYb (I can try to make a very simple logo..got some ideas.)
After that we will show like those zoom in for individual people / pics or videos of us "busy" discussing. (Kinda like the one in this video)
Next we can interview some people. And maybe they can reveal a bit on the theme of the camp and all....wad y'all think? I think it'll be pretty funny and can attract their attention. Esp the starting part.

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
guess this idea will be fine for the 2nd trailer. we need something much shorter and abstract for the teaser.
Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
it cant be too abstract tho...they muz be clear dat a camp is coming up...if is a short clip..
1. i wld recommend try sth like making an advertisement...product is the camp itself.sth funny will be gd. if not we can follow those spoofs of movies but we change it ard and make it as tho the movie characters r talking abt the movie or sth.
2. instead of long trailers..we can make teasers..juz short scenes of wad we r planning...or mayb a boring scene or sth den switch to sth fun n interesting.

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
here are my ideas
FOR THE TEASER :
30 seconds long
0-15s -> Using clips from commonly watched TV shows, talkshows, gameshows that may or may not relate to the camp programme, stiched them randomly together in different parts to simulate a person changing the channel on a real TV. at the 9-10s frame -> insert some clips of our own filming not from TV shows, but make it seem its part of another TV channel. Continue switching the channels at intervals to end up at the "DYB" tv channel at 15s. Its like the person with the remote control decided that thats the channel he/she wants to watch.
16-27 -> The "DYB" channel. Imagine there's a proper camp briefing, but only this time, show the center portion of the briefing, things like what to expect, what you can do in the camp. The idea is NOT to give full picture of it. At 21-23s, the person switches to another unrelated channel, and switch back to the DYB channel again, thus reinforcing the idea that "hey this thing IS important and of interest". From 24-27s, we show some registration booth or sort, similar to some other suggestions here, people queuing and stuff, but its only 3 seconds, VERY quick, and thats how we should want it to be.
28-30 -> The "TV" switches off ( can have those electrical powering down sound, or the traditional old CRT TVs where the light quickly disappears towards the center). And the camera angle changes to the floor level, showing a registration form falling onto the floor. The registration form is slightly blurred compared to the rest of the furniture around the house. This is to create a mixed emphasis of what the audience should be concentrating on screen.
FOR THE TRAILER :
1 minute long
0-15s -> Camera in 3rd person. We see a guy/gal, heading out from home, with the registration form in hand. We will never get to see the person's face ever it this trailer to arouse curiosity. 0-2s will show the person opening and closing house door. 3-5s will show the person exiting from his apartment/HDB compound. 6-8s will show the bus ride towards the registration place ( could be fuo tang i dunno ). 9-10s will show a back view of the person looking towards a crowd, queuing up for something. 11-5s, camera zooms towards the person head then zoom onto the paper which shows the time venue date and registration info for these five seconds.
16-20s -> Camera fixed at a position looking towards the crowd and queue. Person walks towards the queue with registration in hand slowly, and joins the queue. Mood is those sian sian gotta queue again feeling. Then, camera blur to fade, people are frozen as if time stopped, the fade continues till about 15% clarity, still can see silhouettes of people queuing.
21-55s -> Mood changes to upbeat music and stuff, similar to those quacked washing soap commercials on TV in singapore which are just bad (thinks mr muscle). A huge " QUEUES ?" word will punch into the page, chopping it down the previous scene of human silhouettes. Word switches to " NO QUEUES !" in the next few seconds. The words will disappear and we come to see another TV studios setting, a talkshow between a host and 2 guest. Host will introduce who, and explain what the " no queues" words mean... (up to the clever minds in this forum to think of a reason =x). The scene continues to the host passing the baton to the guest to explain what the heck is going to happen in the camp, and registration details, of course with the host popping a few words here and there (think 早安你好). After the briefing of sorts, the host thanks the viewers and we got those silly fanfare that marks the end of the show or something...
56-60s -> Abruptly once the curtain closes on talkshow, the camera depicts our original person waking up from his dream ( the talkshow ) as the person behind him asked him/her to move forward for the queue. Fade to finish.
I took some ideas here and there in the forum and compiled a bit to what i have here. Instead of just discussing of abstract ideas, i feel its best to just WHACK the final product out considering the time constraints and manpower. I'm not too sure how the video editing prowess of our group here is, but i tried to arrange the sequence to be something easier to do, and the settings not so much of a hassle to depict. The only problem i see in my proposal is the silly TV studio scene, which in my mind quite a challenge to depict in a film (props, lighting etc....)
I agree with Marquis that the thing SHOULD not be too long. After all, i feel amateurish works will turn off people if its really toooooo long ( no insult intended, well unless somehere thinks they're damn prooo). But we should use the silly wacky approach if we want to convince and bring people in. I'm no director or zai video editing guy, well just the average joe who thinks we should just WHACK IT.

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
building on the points. i can do the editing. what i need is the source videos e.g. the game shows or tv shows you all are talking about. transitions too if posibble or we/I'll have to make them ourselves or try find some online source to dl from. the problem with editing is that with rendering and subtitling everything a 30s video will take an hour or two. or even more. so yeah. try to think of something simple.
An idea btw. just thinking mayb we could do it more indie style. given the limited resources and time.

cuz im tinking the transition of the person switch thr den back..will it be abit weird?

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
wad about this as a very cool idea. if they are screening a movie during the next lesson. we interrupt the movie as a advert during its climax. haha.
Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
I'm kinda confused..hahaha..will ask my sis to update me again on the msn conver and will read through the msn conver tt she saved.
Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
hit a hitch. The msn part of the vid is not exactly well done and so can we remove that part cos the trailer as of now is already in excess of 40s?
the 'what the 'toot' part was well. what it said.
and my zooming skills sucked

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
hey,the video is ok and the ppl did ask abt the camp,however..some of the teachers say is not impactful enough.
For the next meeting which is this sun,pls refer to minutes sent by huimin...the trailer has been discussed and all,we will be following closely to that.As xuannie is gg to be free from work and her friend might be helping her too..so jiahao dun have to rush out the vids.so sorry to trouble you the other time. However we still need the videocam still. we will only shoot some part of the trailer as not everyone will be here on sun.
jiahao maybe you can burn the videos out for xuannie to edit. Thanks!!!

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
hi,
I was just thinking, that perhaps before filming is done, perhaps we want to decide on the style of the video first? Then the acting can fit the style that we want the video to be...as in, eh, for eg if we want mime then we have to make sure the actions are big enough etc etc...
And perhaps you all want to have a script? or like what each actor will be saying...so that can come up with the most effective lines to convey the msg...as in choice of words and etc...
just some random thoughts, hope it is useful.

Re: [TRAILER] Ideas and samples
true. we'll be better off if we could decide on style and a script.
No problem with the production last week. its slightly rushed but yeah. done. Sure for any help though. kinda lost touch with my skills already. haha. I'll bring my gear tomorrow.
